MINTO FIRE RESPONDS TO APARTMENT FIRE IN HARRISTON

UPDATE: Minto Fire from 3 stations responded to an apartment fire on John Street in Harriston late this afternoon. (4:35pm) Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke showing from the apartment involved. Fire officials say that a quick knock down by crews contained the fire to the one apartment on the first floor. Minto fire says that all residents evacuated from the building however one person was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation and later released from hospital. The damage estimated is to be $50,000 still being worked on and Minto Fire says the cause of the fire has been deemed accidental.

Minto fire says that all residents evacuated from the building however 2 people were taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation. 3 cats were also saved from the apartment and are now in the care of a local vet.

Damage estimate is still being worked on Minto fire says the Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified.
