The Suicide Awareness Council of Wellington Dufferin is inviting you to ‘Work Together to Prevent Suicide.’
According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, approximately eleven people take their life each day. One third of the deaths are people between the ages of 45-59 and suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth and young adults ages 15-24. These statistics do not include the number of people who attempt suicide or who have suicidal thoughts.
September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day, and the Council is inviting you to take part in their photo challenge. Details are on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Just search Suicide Awareness Council of Wellington Dufferin.
On September 10th, they ask you to light a candle and place it near a window at 8pm. The candle is a beacon of caring and compassion.
