Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says that applications are now open for those who wish to apply to the surplus food program.  First promised in May, the $50-million program will see the government buy large quantities of surplus products and redistribute them to areas where food insecurity is an issue, to avoid throwing out food and to allow the producers to still be compensated.

Prime Minister Trudeau also saying in his address out front of Rideau Cottage this morning that the federal government is trying to find a way to extend the CERB for those who are still not able to go back to work from COVID-19.
