OPP DEALING WITH INCIDENT IN WALKERTON

UPDATE:

One person is in custody after a situation this morning in Walkerton.

Shortly after midnight, South Bruce OPP were called in to an area along McNab Street. 

Shortly after 8:20 a.m. this morning, a 56-year-old Brockton resident was taken into custody by members of the OPP Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU). The resident was taken to a local hospital for an assessment.

The investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

South Bruce OPP are dealing with a situation in Walkerton this morning and are asking people and motorists to avoid the area along McNab Street.

Shortly after midnight, South Bruce OPP were called in. 

A number of specialized OPP resources have been engaged to assist the South Bruce OPP with this incident. Expect to see an increased police presence in the area.

The South Bruce OPP has initiated road closures around the incident location in the interest of public safety. The closures are on McNab Street, from Napier to Johnstone Boulevard, and on South Street, from Hinks to Robinson Street, in Walkerton. Motorists are asked to respect the closure and avoid the incident area.

Residents are asked to remain indoors and avoid the incident area.

This is an isolated incident.
