ARTHUR – The MPP for Perth Wellington has announced over $4.1 million dollars in Provincial funding for Wellington County.
Randy Pettapiece made the announcement on Tuesday in Arthur. This infrastructure funding will be used for the rehabilitation of the Conestoga River Bridge located just east of Arthur on Wellington Rd 109.
Pettapiece says his government is working closely with our municipal partners to fund vital infrastructure projects in our rural communities.
“We are committed to ensuring all Ontarians, no matter where they live, can travel to work, school, and the grocery store safely. This investment will ensure our businesses can get their goods to domestic and international markets. In turn, growing the local economy and creating good jobs here in Wellington County.”
Wellington County Warden Kelly Linton was on hand at the announcement and made these remarks.
“On behalf of County Council, our residents and businesses, I would like to thank the Government of Ontario for this infrastructure investment. Well-maintained bridges are critical for rural residents and our local economy.”
The total cost of the project is $5 million with the Government of Ontario providing $4,166,500, and the County providing the remaining $833,500.
This is the second major infrastructure announcement MPP Pettapiece made this summer in Wellington County. In July, the province committed $1 million, through the Connecting Links Program, for the reconstruction of Arthur Street East in Harriston.
