Community Honours Crash Victim With Darren’s Day-February 18

COUNTY OF WELLINGTON – Members of the Palmerston community would like to honour the life of Darren More by hosting a special event next month.
Darren More was an active member in minor sports, community events, and family initiatives. He died on July 11, 2018 after being killed in a vehicle collision with a stolen vehicle driven by a man impaired by drugs. People knew him as a husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
In the spirit of giving back to the community, Crime Stoppers Guelph/Wellington, Minto Fire Service, Palmerston Marlins Ball Club, and Palmerston Lions Club will be assisting More’s family to host a special event called Darren’s Day at the Palmerston Community Complex, onĀ  Monday, February 18; which fittingly coincides with Family Day.
The event will kick off with a Firefighters’ Breakfast in the Community Hall at 8:00 am. Then, the games begin with winter festival events, the Tug a Truck competition between Wellington OPP and Minto Fire Service, a Sno-Pitch tournament that mixes softball with winter weather, a lunch booth, and noon highlights. Several other events are being finalized for the event, which can be tacked on www.csgw.tips.
Admission will be free, apart from food services, which will have their own pricing. All proceeds raised during the event will go towards community improvement initiatives, minor sports, and Crime Stoppers Guelph/Wellington.
