WELLINGTON – On Sunday, October 7th at around 8:25 PM, Wellington County OPP responded to a collision involving a minivan and a golf cart in front of the Highland Pines Campground located on Wellington Road 19, Township of Centre Wellington.
The investigation revealed that the minivan was travelling eastbound on Wellington 19 the golf cart crossed in front of its path and collided with it.
A female passenger in the minivan was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
When speaking to 22-year-old Scott Sharpe, the driver of the golf cart, police determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.
A Roadside Screening Device was conducted and resulted in failure, leading to his arrest.
Sharpe was brought to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing, where he was charged with Over 80 mgs against the Criminal Code of Canada. A 90-day Driver’s License Suspension and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was placed into effect.
He is scheduled to appear in court on November 2nd 2018.
