West Grey Police have started enforcing tougher penalties for any drivers who endanger pedestrians.
The increased fines came into place on September 1st. This includes higher fins and more demerit points for drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians at crossovers, school crossings and crosswalks with a school crossing guard present, as well as new penalties for drivers who are convicted of careless driving causing death or bodily harm.
Police are reminding everyone to always look for pedestrians, especially when turning and be patient with pedestrians who are crossing the roadway.
West Grey Officers will be stationed at local school zones all week, enforcing the new harsher penalties.
