MINTO – If you had plans for an open fire, you will have to put any burning on hold.
Minto Fire has declared a total burn ban in Minto which includes the communities of Harriston, Palmerston, Clifford & Minto township.
The extremely dry conditions cause concern for authorities so there will be no open air burning permitted in the Town of Minto until further notice.
All open air fires are prohibited during a fire ban, including for those properties that have an Open Air Fire Permit.
This ban applies to agricultural burns, brush pile burns, as well as campfires. Minto Fire would like to Fines are in place to enforce the ban. This ban will remain in place until further notice or conditions improve.
Mapleton Township and West grey both have a partial fire ban in effect. Wellington North Fire officials are reviewing the situation daily but have not issued a ban yet.
