WELLINGTON – Officers made a mid day traffic stop this past Sunday because the driver had been speeding, it turns out they were also intoxicated.
Wellington OPP pulled over the driver around 2 p.m. in the afternoon on Wellington Road 109, just east of Arthur.
A roadside screening test was administered to the driver upon suspicion that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver failed the screening test and was taken to local OPP detachment for further testing.
After another subsequent test failure, police charged 38-year-old Jamie Lee Nicholls of Oakville with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code.
The driver was also charged with speeding, as he was clocked going 128km/hr in an 80km/hr Zone.
Nicholls drivers licence was suspended for 7 days, and his vehicle was impounded.
He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on August 3, 2018.
