Man Facing Child Sex Charges Will Await Trial in Town of Durham

DURHAM – West Grey Police are warning the public about a man who is facing sex related charges involving children living in the town of Durham.
44 year old Stirling W. Young has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and luring a child. He was released on a bail while he awaits his trial. The conditions of his bail include:
– Not to be in the company of or communicate with directly males or females under 18 years except while in the direct company of his surety or while buying food or goods in a public place or unless they are family members.
– Do not attend a public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present or a daycare centre, school ground, playground or community centre.
– Not to seek obtain or continue with any paid or unpaid activity that involves being in a position of trust or authority towards persons under the age of 16 years.
– Do not attend any hotel, motel or Inn expect in the direct company of his surety and reside with his surety in Durham, ON each and every night.
Police are reminding the public that Young is assumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. Residents are reminded to be vigilant in regards to the safety of their children and report any suspicious people or activities in their neighbourhoods or public places.
