DRAYTON – The Grand River Conservation Authority has issued a flood warning for the Town of Drayton.
The watershed has received about 25 mm of rain over the past 24 hours, with some areas receiving up to 35 mm. The rain coupled with the snowmelt and ice in the river is causing runoff and flows at river capacity across the Grand River watershed.
Over in Drayton, Township of Mapleton staff are asked to warn residents in the level 1 flood zone. The biggest concern is in the area around the fairgrounds.
Water levels upstream of Drayton are still rising and are expected to peak at or close to Level 1 warning levels on Tuesday morning.
