A county Councillor will serve another term as the Vice Chair for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
George Bridge was re-elected to the post at the annual FCM conference in June. He will represent the Ontario caucus on a one year term. Bridge was appointed to the position of Vice-Chair of FCM’s Municipal Finance and Intergovernmental Arrangements.
The priorities for FCM’s Standing Committee on Municipal Finance and Intergovernmental Arrangements, include:
• Municipal Powers
• Roles and Responsibilities
• Municipal Fiscal Tools
• International Trade Rules and Disputes
• GST and other Tax Issues
Bridge says that as vice chair he will keep pressing for federal action that makes life better here at home and acorss Canada.
“It’s an honour to be appointed Vice-Chair of FCM’s Municipal Finance and Intergovernmental Arrangements Committee. Some of our biggest challenges in Wellington County are also national challenges – whether that’s jobs, growth or climate change. As Vice-Chair, I will keep pressing for federal action that makes life better here at home and across Canada.”
FCM is the national voice for 2,000 local governments, representing more than 90 percent of all Canadians. Bridge has served the Town of Minto and the County of Wellington since 2010. He has been a member of the FCM Board of Directors since 2016.
