WELLINGTON NORTH – A 20 year old man has been charged after speeding and driving off road near Highway 6 north of Kenilworth.
On Tuesday at about 9:30 pm Wellington OPP attempted to stop a south bound vehicle. The speeding 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe took an extreme evasive action and drove off the road, through a ditch and crossed a hay field attempting to conceal the car behind a row of hay bales.
Police was able to locate and detain the four occupants of the vehicle. A 45 year old passenger was found to be in possession of marihuana. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under multiple driving suspensions.
The passenger has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and will be appearing in Guelph Criminal Court on August 29.
The driver was charged with three counts of Driving While Suspended and Speeding and will be appearing in Guelph Court on September 6.
The vehicle was impounded as per statue.
