The MP for Perth Wellington has announced some funding for the Canada Summer Jobs program. John Nater says students will be eligible to gain valuable work experience this summer through the initiative. “Creating summer jobs for students benefits not only youth and employers, but also local economies across the country. The Canada Summer Jobs Program provides students the opportunity to gain viable skills and work experience while earning money to continue their post-secondary education.”
A total of 53 projects were approved for summer of 2017, representing 109 jobs and a total of $427,216 in funding. Nater says this program helps students in our community.
“I had the privilege of informing over 50 local businesses and community organizations across the riding, that their projects had been approved. 109 young people will be working in Perth—Wellington this summer due to funding received through the program.”
The Canada Summer Jobs Program falls under the larger Youth Employment Strategy of the Government of Canada. Our very own River Runner driver James Cooper is part of the Summer Jobs Funding Program.
Look for him at various events all over Northern Wellington and Southern Grey Counties all summer long!
