Greta Dearing, of Mount Forest is making her MMA debut at Future Combat Stars in Windsor, Ontario on December 13th. The 44 year old began training with local trainer Dave Reeves in Mount Forest in April of 2014 with a goal of climbing a mountain near Mount Everest in Nepal. In September of 2014 she put that goal on hold to begin training specifically for her first MMA fight. Greta trains up to 3 to 4 hours per day, she’s ready to combine disciplines and step into the cage. In August of this year, she travelled to Dublin, Ireland to train with Team Ryano, home of UFC fighters Neil Seery and Paul Redmond under coach Andy Ryan. She also trained as a Cutman with Joseph Clifford, who recently worked for the UFC at the infamous Ronda Rousey vs Holly Holm fight, and has been working the amateur circuit wrapping fighters’ hands since her return.
When not at the gym or working at a fight, Greta works as an Instructional Designer for The Cooperators Insurance in Guelph. Photo courtesy of John Wills Photography.
